National PTA Reflections Program
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students established in 1969. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme and helps to increase community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.
Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by artistic discipline and by school grade. Student’s works are critiqued alongside others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The four divisions and six categories are as follows:

Out of our 53 school sites, we had 40 PTAs that participated and held a Reflections program at their school. 1,047 entries were received throughout the school district. At each school site, Award of Excellence recipients in each category and age group were awarded, and those winners moved on to our Capistrano Unified Council of PTSA to be judged. This year we received 208 Award of Excellence recipients from around the District. From those, we awarded 26 Awards of Excellence, 45 Awards of Merit, and 36 Honorable Mentions. The Award of Excellence entries from each category, shown in the following slideshows, will move on to the Fourth District PTA, which represents 21 Councils in Orange County.
Congratulations to all the Capistrano Unified students who participated in the Reflections Program this year! You vividly brought this year’s theme, “I Will Change The World By…” to life with your creativity, imagination, and talent. Thank you to your families for the continued support of PTA and of this very special program.
The National PTA Reflections Program relies on the efforts of many people. Our individual schools’ Reflections Chairs are key to the success of this program, and we are so grateful to each of them for all their time and energy.
Many thanks to our judges, experts in their respective fields, who carefully considered each entry and seriously evaluated its artistic qualities and interpretation of theme. Their decisions were difficult, and we greatly appreciate the countless hours they devoted to this process. Thank you also to the CUSD offices, staff, Superintendent and Trustees for their support. Many thanks to Tania Cluttey for creating the web pages that made this virtual presentation possible.
Reflections was created to help all students find their voices and to tell their unique stories. It is truly inspiring to see the creativity of the students of this school district and it has been an honor and pleasure to witness the interpretations again this year.
May we all remain artists!
Respectfully,
Your 2021-2022 CUCPTSA Reflection Chair,
Mina Carson
