SHELTER IN PLACE

Typically used for a non-immediate threat to the campus. This would include police activity near the campus, a bomb threat, or an environmental emergency. 
 
WHAT TO DO
Secure all students and staff inside the classrooms and lock the doors.
 
ACTIVITY
Normal classroom activity may continue. 
 
WHEN TO LEAVE
Only leave the room when an all-clear message is delivered by administration or emergency personnel. 
 
SITUATIONS
  • Weather emergency
  • Policy or fire activity nearby
  • Threat of explosives
LOCK DOWN

LOCK DOWN

Typically used for a direct and immediate threat to the safety of the students and staff on campus. 
 
WHAT TO DO
Lock and barricade the doors, turn off lights, and keep students quite and away from windows. Law enforcement will be notified and staff will prepare to Deny, Evade, and Engage. 
 
ACTIVITY
Remain calm and quiet. Silence cell phones and devices. Hide and protect. Stay away from doors, windows, and exposed areas.
 
WHEN TO LEAVE
Only leave the room when an all-clear message is delivered by emergency personnel. 
 
SITUATIONS
  • Dangerous individual(s) on campus (Unknown person, active shooter, civil unrest).
