Solar Program

Capistrano Unified School District is proud of its initiative to construct and operate solar arrays in the parking lots of all six high schools and the District office.

Led by a coalition of CUSD High School Students who created a powerful, supportive movement through petitions, a website, and social media, this solar project is expected to save, on average, $849,000 a year, for a total of $21 million in savings over 25 years.

CUSD is committed to reducing energy consumption of electricity, natural gas, and water to conserve natural resources and save money to support other identified priorities. Savings we recuperate in this area allow us to focus more funds on our students and provide the best learning environment possible.
Staff, students, and volunteers are encouraged to recycle and conserve energy at all District facilities.
