Transition Partnership Program
TPP is a collaborative project with the California Department of Rehabilitation. TPP provides a set of coordinated activities for a student, designed with an outcome-oriented process that promotes movement from school to post-school activities, including post-secondary education, vocational training, integrated competitive employment, continuing and adult education, adult services, independent living, or community participation, which ultimately results in gainful employment in an integrated environment. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) reauthorized the Rehabilitation Act and now requires specific Pre-Employment Transition Services (PRETS) activities:
- Job exploration counseling
- Work-based learning opportunities
- Counseling on post-secondary educational opportunities
- Workplace readiness training
- Instruction in self advocacy
Special education students are referred for TPP services based on the following criteria:
- Disability
- Severity of the disability (mobility, self-care, interpersonal skills, communication, work skills needing a job coach, and work tolerance)
- Can the student benefit from DR services with accommodations
