Eligibility Guidelines for the California State Preschool Program

In order to attend the California State Preschool Program, families must meet eligibility guidelines. There are several ways to be eligible for the CSPP, however a priorty system has been designed by the California Department of Education. Please review the following eligibility and priority guidelines:

Registration and Enrollment Process:
The following steps outline the registration process:
Step 1: Enroll your child in AIR by completing an Online New Student Enrollment. 
Once you enroll your child in AIR, you will receive an email within 24 hours with your child’s new Student ID Number. 
 
Step 2: Use your child’s Student ID Number to submit an Online Preschool Application at:
https://webapps.capousd.org/preschoolapplication/, you will receive an email upon submission with a confirmation and and links to download additional documents required to complete your child’s registration. 
 
Step 3: Please plan on bringing in all supporting documentation into our office to finalize your registration. We will print your completed application for you.
 
Please call our office to schedule an enrollment appointment to bring in your paperwork. Families can bring in their CSPP supporting documentation/paperwork beginning on April 22, 2024 or later. 
 
Step 4:  Families will be notified during the enrollment session/appointment if their child has qualified for the CSPP. Families will be notified via mail with a Notice of Action letter on their placement for the 2024-25 school year within 30 days of your enrollment session/scheduled appointment.

Other Important Information

  • Our PK classrooms serve children ages 3 & 4. Children must be 3 years old by 12/1/24 to enroll and attend. Children who turn 3 years old after 12/1/24 must wait until closer to their 3rd birthday to enroll and may only attend after they are 3 years old. 
  • Please note that every attempt is made to honor placement requests, but placements are contingent on program availability.
  • School site changes may occur prior to the start of the school year depending on enrollment.
